It is therefore possible to create a dense range of complex sequences with the press of a single key. By fusing four sound sources crossfaded together into one complex layered ever-evolving tone, Vector synthesiscombines multiple sound sources together simultaneously to create multitimbral, lush, layered sounds. Of course, had I not just run into that, your post would have been just as much a life saver, so thanks for the response.Do you like dreamy pads and futuristic sci-fi sounds, but also enjoy jamming? Do you enjoy playing keys, twiddling knobs, adjusting settings with the press of a single button, and like the idea of combining multiple sounds into one as if by magic? The Korg Wavestate might just be the synth for you.Ī highly updated and much more sophisticated successor to the Korg Wavestation-Korg’s Iconic but short-lived synthesizer from the 1990s–The Wavestate uses a unique kind of digital synthesis called vector synthesis and waveshaping to combine together multiple sound sources into a single unified tone. Here's the page of his that I found the tip (plus more Wavestation info) on:

He was a genuinely nice guy who was always willing to help (probably still is). I'm not sure what this means for all of those SR banks loaded into an EX (since they came from more than just a RAM1 or RAM2 bank), but I remember having loaded them before into the EX, so I'll figure it out.įYI: Dan Phillips' name is in a lot of Korg documentation and if I remember right, he was pretty active in the older usenet groups in the late 80s and early 90s (and a lot of the first Korg Web sites).

I tried it (changed the "Basic Channel" in the "MIDI" menu to a value of 8) and it worked. That's exactly what I just found by chance! I did some more googling and found an old article from Dan Phillips that mentions this, that most are set to channel 1 in the SysEx, but some were set to 8, or 16. Is the bank number stored in the SysEx file itself (being I would have to edit the file in a hex editor to target the right bank)? It's been such a long time since I've worked with this beast.
Korg wavestation ad changing bank problem Patch#
Results: the patch name never changes, even when I change to another patch and then back (to disqualify it being simply a temp-patch area issue) and changing banks from RAM1, RAM2, CARD, ROM, and still seeing nothing but the old patches.
Korg wavestation ad changing bank problem manual#
I looked at the data structure in the Reference manual appendix and it lists a field named 'Current Bank', but I'm not sure how hard-wired that is to the bank that was selected when the SysEx bank was saved. Not remembering how this works, I was sure to select the bank I intended to write to before hitting send, but I don't remember if the target bank number is stored in the actual SysEx file (I hope not). When firing up the WS, I don't see any errors indicating low internal battery.I don't see any errors on the screen such as check-sum errors (though I don't remember where to look for it).(.sys) that I've had for years and always worked before I tried several banks that were named RAM1, RAM2, JohnsPatches, etc.

Verified on the front of the MIDI patch bay that the port (2) is flashing after hitting Send.Set the 'Output' value to the proper MIDI port (2) in the Sonar SysEx view.I can send SysEx to my Wavestation via the SysEx view in Sonar, but nothing's happening.
